First Santa, now the Easter Bunny

I knew Easter might be a crazy cape ordering time, but I had no idea how busy (being that this is our first year open).  I am up to my ears in capes.  Leslie is the "bow maker" and I am the "cape maker", so when you are getting tons of orders and requests for something to be in time for Easter you can't help, but want to say yes to everyone.  If you were reading around Christmas you might remember that I would stay up until 3 am (even 2 days before Christmas) getting capes done and mailing priority and overnights.  Being Santa and the Easter Bunny's help is awesome! BUT tiring.  Right now I stay up crazy hours making capes and that's on top of volunteering as a coach for Girls on the Run, working part time, spending time with my husband and pup, working on our new website, shipping all the packages, getting our next TIPsy Tuesday ready, and getting yard work done (I love yard work). All in all, I'm VERY busy, but VERY happy!!!
Sometimes I swear I live in a post office. :)

I promise, no super heroes were taken out with kryptonite in the making of this photo.
Dex is always on the lookout!
The turtles have been loving this wonderful Carolina weather!
Jarret was so happy with getting a new tree for the yard!!! (He really was, I'm not being sarcastic) :)

Hope everyone is having a great day!!!! Oh, and we've had some people do a recreation of the pinwheel wreath I made for TIPsy Tuesday and I'd love to share them with you!!  Too cute!!!  Thanks guys!!! :)  Toqua's Crafts and Capital B

My Word of the Year in March

I started the year with a Word of the Year, Appreciate!  Yesterday morning, Jarret and I did just that.  It was rainy and gloomy in the morning.  We really needed the rain!  Jarret and I decided to take Dexter on a long walk.  Although we ended up with a completely soaked Dexter, we got to appreciate that the rain brought more life and color around us.

My boys at the beginning of the walk.

Not our house, just thought the willow finally getting its leaves back was pretty!

Even the Calorie Pear trees are blooming early this year.
Hope everyone is getting a chance to get out and appreciate the weather!

"Funny how a melody, sounds like a memory"

Seriously, one day those girls on my Girls on the Run team make me feel old, then young, then back to feeling old.  I asked them what they wanted to be when they grow up.  They each give me about five different things, which is great that they want to do so much. I jokingly replied, I still don't know what I want to be (which of course I do, a cape making ninja like I am of course).  One girl replies: "You don't really have a lot of time left to find out."  Oh, how lovely, 27 years old and not a lot of time left...  Yep, all those things you're thinking in your head.. That's what I'm thinking too, but I held it back. :)  Haha, so while they all huffed and puffed about running during and after, I came home and ran another 2.5 miles.. Bet you can't do that youngster!!!

Now, while on my run I couldn't help but play Eric Church's new song "Springsteen"... a couple of times completely back to back.  I couldn't help it!  The weather was absolutely perfect (70s with a slight breeze) and I love feeling like I'm in a movie (you do it too, don't deny it) and this is the part where the camera watches me run while enjoying the weather and trying to forget whatever is bothering me (like children reminding me that I am getting old).  Dexter had a good time too because it has been one strange and warm winter and the flowers are blooming already, so play the song (you know you want to) and enjoy the views from today with me!

Cutest Beggar!

I was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich today and Dexter decided to be the cutest beggar in the world.  I warn you, being that his hair is completely black you can't see his face that well, but he is the cutest dog in the world!

Just had to share his cuteness!

I'm so excited...

I'm so excited!  We have a ton of Valentine's hair accessories up and they are getting a great response!  Leslie has worked so hard at getting them all put together and posted!  She is a bow ninja!  She took what I believed was my worst felt creation and made it beautiful with all her layers of ribbon!  I love it!

I'm also excited because I finally got to go on a movie date with my husband.  We have been trying to for over a month.  Saw The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  It was great!  I loved the books, and the movie did a great job following it.

I'm also excited because I'm a Girls On The Run coach!  Jarret and I have run the 5k for Girls On The Run the past three years (it's actually in our neighborhood... yes we paid to run 3 miles in our neighborhood).  I'm really excited and nervous.  There is a lot more to it then I expected, but I think it will be really fulfilling!  I used to never be in great shape growing up (not that I'm in perfect shape now), but I had no confidence.  I'm not going to lie.. I think at one time I probably weighed 185 lbs.  Now for some that may not be a lot if you are overweight and for others you may think that is very overweight.  Whatever it was, I was unhealthy and had a problem with over eating.  about two years ago I was in the 160s and still hated that I couldn't find the strength to beat food, so I got the strength to go to a therapist.  It really helped.  I started to like myself more and found the confidence I never had before.  I had lost 30 pounds and for the first time in my life weighed 135!!!  I was never even that thin in my teens.  I have now held at 138 and 140 and am happy.  I may not have the perfect body to others, but it is pretty good to me.  I'm healthy, can run a decent speed with longevity, and have an inner strength I never had before.  Most people may think I'm crazy for putting myself completely out there for you all to know what I weigh, but it is just a number and I want to help inspire the girls I teach to find it in them that what others think, doesn't really matter.  It's what you think about yourself and just being simply healthy is all that matters!

And on my last excited note:  I got Dexter in my hoodie and he is aDOGable!!!!!!

Have a good day!!!

ZzzzzzzzZZzzz

I am VERY tired.  I'm not complaining, just simply stating.  I've taken a lot of extra hours at my part time job.  I only have one day off this next week and have worked a lot this past month.  It is that time of season.  I also did not realize how Neverland Nook would pick up for cape orders either!  I'm so grateful.  Creating the magician cape was a real hit!  Sold 3 within a week.  That is a lot to a business who only started officially less than 2 months ago and isn't a main seller yet on etsy.  Whenever people have messaged us about "can we get a cape done in time for Christmas," I just can't turn it down.  Someone (a very nice and fun customer who had ordered a super hero set and magician set) sent me a random message asking if we can make a judge's robe.  Very random I thought, but she explained it's for one of three children who are very creative and love to play role playing games for hours.  Their dad is also a lawyer, so she thought it would be fun if the kids could play courtroom.  I love it!  Now, I have never made any kind of robe before.  I really wanted to work on making a wizarding robe (can you guess why?! Ha) and so this judge's robe will be my first step in practice to creating that magical world I love so much.  Tomorrow is my first day off with Jarret alone for a while, and we were supposed to spend the day together, but it looks as if I will be Neverland Nook-ing it for the day.  I'm a bit sad on missing time, but once Christmas is over I believe the land of capes will get a bit of a rest.  I should take a couple of hours to relax tomorrow.  I have Sunday morning before work and Sunday night after work to do Neverland Nook work.  Also, Monday morning.  I just can't resist people's requests for Christmas.  Although I think after the magician one I just took tonight I might have to.  Unless by some amazing luck I finish all four sets of sewing tomorrow.  That would be AWESOME!!!  Well, enough of my blogging about absolutely nothing as you sit there wondering why I'm typing and not sewing... I needed a break.. And after I iron all the cape cut outs.. I'm reading my book and heading to bed.  Jarret's already asleep:

He'd probably die if he knew this pic was up, but look at my two boys.. Yes that little black fluff under Jarret's head is Dexter!  Ha.. Too cute!  Happy Weekend!
