Leap into Spring

Happy Leap Day!  I fully took advantage of my extra day this year!  I have to start with the fact that I have a pretty SUPER husband! Yep, that's him in the picture below. :)

When I had a customer order a custom cape for her husband, to match the cape she was buying for her child, Jarret agreed to be my model.  He is quite the super guy!  He also had off yesterday and knew I had a long day of getting a lot done, so he got all my coffee stuff ready for me in the morning!

He doesn't drink coffee at all, so even going near the coffee pot is a big deal for him. :)  Anyways, I had a big morning watching Leslie's kids while she got a lot of our hair bow orders made, she's been in jury duty, so she hasn't had any time to get stuff done!  This is what I saw when I came into their breakfast time first thing in the morning:

Oh, sweet Avery!  She wore those glasses all morning.  She looks like an old spinster aunt whose name is Maude and should be telling dirty jokes with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth.  After a couple of hours of running around in circles, literally, with a 2 year old yelling "run" as she has me be her chariot chasing her brother, I went home and had the most sore arms in the world.  Leslie probably could be a boxer if her arms do that everyday!

When I got home Jarret and I had to run a bunch of errands, one including getting our car titles.  Both our cars are paid off now, but for some reason they make you pay for the title.  Wasn't the thousands of dollars I spent paying for the car good enough to earn that piece of paper?  We did some grocery shopping and then late into the night I made some more goodies for Neverland Nook.  Somehow in the middle of our long day we got to take Dexter on a walk and so now I will share even more "Spring is coming" photos because this awesome weather is already making a beautiful early spring.

Hope everyone else had a productive and lovely extra day this year!

Wedding!!!

My wedding photos are finally here!!!  I have to share several, well lets face it, I have to share a bunch!  We received about 400, so you're lucky you're not at my house or I'd really bore you! :)  Let's start at the beginning...

Getting ready!  The headband was perfect! (Headband made by Enchanted Atelier and purchased at a beautiful bridal boutique where I also got my dress called J Majors)

Jarret and I saw each other before the wedding to take photos.  Best decision ever!  Sweetest moment too! :)

Our "ride" was awesome!  It was a 1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud.  Our driver was named Tony and was the nicest guy!  (Car from Royal Rides)

My dress is Tess by designer Lea-Ann Belter and was bought at J Majors.  The staff is great there and really cater to you.  My mom made the black belt, which had beautiful crystal embellishments on it.  Thanks mom!

We got married in a small chapel owned by the state.  It was adorable.  We had a really short ceremony that we wrote (lasted maybe 7 minutes).  Jarret walked down the aisle to Blackbird by The Beatles and I walked down to In My Life by The Beatles.  Then we ended the ceremony with Good Day Sunshine by..... drum roll please.. The Beatles.  (odd note:  Leslie and Michael got married 7 years ago - before I even knew her - by the same officiant we did and on Oct. 16 ~ Jarret and I got married on Oct. 15 and had the date picked before I knew Leslie.. weird)

Adorable streamers bought at a fellow etsy shop: Craft Up Your Life

Our first dance was to Nora Jones "Come Away With Me".  We danced a waltz that was beautifully choreographed by our dance teacher Lauren.

Our cake "topper"! I made it!  So proud of it.. Had to include Dexter! <3

We danced and had fun with friends!  (pictured here are Jarret's college buddies from the University of Dayton)

Leslie and Micheal dancing and having fun!

The end to the best day!

Hope you enjoyed these! :)

Holy capes, Batman!

So my sweetest of sweet Sabrinas has been, literally, working night and day to meet and exceed our client requests for custom and personalized capes / attire for this holiday season. She is Wonder Woman and needs a cape of her own!  I just have to confess that I am so impressed with her abilities, wherewithal and kind-heartedness. She is so eager to make children happy on Christmas morning that she has been working around the clock (many nights sleeping two hours ONLY!) to ensure that each customer who orders a cape for their child will have a joyful awakening and present opening on Christmas morning.  Here is just a small sampling of her orders...she's averaged two or three a day!!  We love you, "'Rina".

I aspire to be as kind and as creative as Sabrina, and I am so grateful to have her as one of my dearest friends, and as my business partner.

I apologize for this taking so long to finish this post. I just had my four-year-old wake up crying and calling out for me because of an encyclopedia we read tonight - a section about avalanches and fault lines. He had a nightmare about me and Avery (his baby sister) being buried by an avalanche. It is so difficult to balance educational reading with what will form terror in little ones.  But God forbid I try to read him a happy book about rabbits.  "Mommy, why are there not many words?  Why does it rhyme?  Why is it so short?"  Sigh.

But, on an amusing note, my baby Avery is so in love with our new, Christmas Michael Buble album that we had the following (albeit garbled) conversation today:

Avery: "DAN!" (meaning dance)
Aidan: "I'll go put on a CD of Christmas music, so we can dance."
Me: "Are you going to put on James Taylor? Johnny Mathis?"
Avery: "BOOOBLEEY!"
Me: "What, Avery?"
Avery: "Boooobleey!"
Aidan: "She wants to dance to Michael Buble. He taught me all the words to 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'."
Me: (in thought) Holy crap, I am in trouble.

Here's wishing you all a holiday season free from avalanches and full of Michael Buble (or other agreeable holiday music).  Happy holidays, everyone!

XOXO,
Leslie
